The first advert i analyzed was for Nandos. The purpose of the advert was to inform and promote brand awareness, The advert makes people aware that it is infact nandos by mentioning the name of the brand at the start of the advert. The advert is only 30 seconds long which is standard length for a radio advert because it is a radio advert and there are no visuals the advert has to grab the listeners attention by using a Portuguese accent in the advert which also helps with the brand identity this is to let us know it is a new type of chicken that you may not have had in the country before. along with the festive Portuguese music the slogan "Its ok" trys to show that nandos is a place to go to eat and celebrate .The only legal problems with the advert is the use of the accent as the accent clearly isn't from a Portuguese man and is being faked and the fact they mention the one eye brow of his sister which could be racial stereotyping.
the radio copy guidelines for clearing ads for radio which are the regulators for radio advertising says about accents
When different nationalities or regional accents are used in advertisement scenarios, care is needed so as not to cause offence by negative stereotyping or by ridiculing the relevant country, region or racial group.
